Although attending worship services is one way to understand and share the message of Christ, another way is through participation in church programs for its members and our community. Here is a current list of our programs primarily for adults.

  • Loaves and Fishes
On the 30th of every month we cook and serve at the Dorothy Day Center in St. Paul. You can help us cook in the morning at the church, help transfer food from Arlington Hills Lutheran to the center, help serve food at Dorothy Day, or any combination of the 3.

  • Alley Shoppe
This is an outreach ministry that provides clothing, cookware, and other essentials to the needy in Ramsey County. Volunteer opportunities include helping to clean and sort clothing on Monday mornings, helping to distribute items on Tuesday mornings, and other opportunities.

  • Adult Forum
Sundays at 9:00 a.m. adults are invited to attend the Adult Forum. Speakers are invited to present information concerning a variety of topics including local community programs, the Church's position on current issues, member's experiences in attending Church related events, and other topics of interest to adults.

  • Alpha
The Alpha program is an introductory to the Christian Faith. Mature Christians along with those who have completed the course are invited to help prepare or serve a meal, become a discussion leader, or help in a variety of ways.

  • Communion Assistants
Help serve the meal of the Lord by setting up the elements, distributing the wine, and cleaning up.

  • Lay Visitors
If you have a love for the elderly who are unable to make it out to church on Sunday mornings then this is the place for you. Our Lay visitors bring Holy Communion once a month to seniors who are shut in their home. There a many folks looking for a lay minister but one isn't available. Can you help?

  • Greeters
Here is an opportunity to share your smile and your friendly disposition as you welcome others to worship on Sunday mornings and other functions in the church.

  • Ushers
Ever been to a church where you didn't know your way around? At Arlington Hills our ushers help folks find their way into the Sanctuary, the coffee, the nursery, and even to the restroom. Bring your helpful spirit and come join the team.

  • Confirmation Guide
There is nothing quite like watching the faith of a Junior High School student come alive. Kids this age need a safe place to talk about their faith and trusted adults to talk with. Come and partner with another adult and be an adult a group of 6 or so young people can count on. Training is provided. Meets Wednesday evenings from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m..

  • Sunday School Teacher
Do you remember what Sunday school was like for you? Kids like to learn about God on Sunday mornings and they need willing adults who love them to help. Being a Sunday school teacher is not as hard or scary as you may think. The curriculum we use is teacher friendly and answers the questions you have. Teacher training is provided. Commitment on Sunday morning is 9:00-10:00.

  • Youth Chaperone
If you like to be around teenagers whose faith is alive come and help us out. Safety is a top priority at Arlington Hills Lutheran. That's why we maintain at least a 1 - 7 ration of adults to youth.

  • Child Care Assistant
Our Child Care Center is open Sunday mornings during the 10:15 a.m. service. If you like to be around young children, volunteer to help for an hour and a half one Sunday a month.

  • Van Drivers
Do you like to drive? Our church van picks up people who need a ride to church on Sunday mornings and we want to expand the service to Wednesday evenings as well. If you have a clean driving record and a valid drivers license this is a ministry you can help with.

  • Board for Children, Youth, and Family Life
This board is in charge of the ministry to our children and youth of the congregation with a focus on tying those ministries together with the congregation as a whole. The purpose of the Board is "To inspire young people and families to know Christ, to live in faith, and to put love into action." Members of this Board help to make policy decisions, set priorities for this area of ministry, evaluate effectiveness of programs, and are involved in the ministry in a variety of ways.
